Summary:
Deputy Charles Wilkerson was shot and killed when he stopped two suspects who had just committed an armed robbery. At the time, Deputy Wilkerson did not know the robbery had occurred. The robbery was broadcast during the stop at which time one of the suspects distracted Deputy Wilkerson as the other suspect shot him.
One of the suspects was shot and killed a short time later. The second suspect was sentenced to life in prison.
Deputy Wilkerson had served with the agency for two years.
