Summary: Officer John McKinney was shot late during the evening of March 28, 1912, at New York Street and Kealing Avenue during an on-duty quarrel with his partner.

Taken to City Hospital, Officer McKinney died on March 31.

Disposition: Officer McKinney's partner was arrested and charged with murder. He was found not guilty on September 16, 1912, at a trial that took place in Martinsville, Indiana.
