Bio: Paul Martin was born in Fort Lewis, Washington. He was baptized and confirmed at Concordia Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1989. He truly treasured spending time with family and friends. He loved hunting and fishing and found every excuse to do so. He continued doing both throughout his adult life with his love of the outdoors.
Paul has three children that he loved dearly and four grandchildren who brought him such great joy; Sara Beth, Jason and Amanda (Madison, Everett, Oliver and Theo). He was an amazing father and absolutely loved being a papa. He always had photos of them ready to share with whoever he could stop long enough to chat.
Paul started his law enforcement career with the Army as an MP Canine Officer. He continued his career in law enforcement while in North Dakota starting with Nelson County Sheriff’s Department. Then he was with Hazen Police Department for three years followed by Beulah Police Department for two years. These past 15 years he has been with Mercer County Sheriff’s Department. During his time with Mercer County Sheriff’s Department Paul was lucky enough to be partnered with Goliath, his K9 for seven years. After Goliath retired, he enjoyed napping on Paul’s feet when Paul came home from work and going for rides in the pickup.
Paul met the absolute love of his life, Mindy, at I-94 mile marker 110 in 2012. They celebrate their first date anniversary every year. Paul and Mindy were married June 11, 2016 at Paul’s family farm near Jamestown, ND. They had seven beautiful years of marriage together and cherished and treasured every minute. Paul loved Mindy with every fiber of his being and she felt the same for him. He would always have a twinkle in his eyes when he talked about her. Paul and Mindy enjoyed many camping and fishing adventures. They loved to travel together to visit family and friends near and far. Paul recently started a new hobby, making spearing decoys. He had just finished his first two perch decoys which he was very proud of.
Paul and Mindy bought a little slice of heaven east of Golden Valley. After many long discussions, the location of the tiny cabin was decided. This place provided relaxation and a means for both Paul and Mindy to truly enjoy their precious time with each other. |
