After graduation from Merrill High School, 2009, Emily attended North central Technical College in Wausau, WI where she graduated in 2011 with an associates degree in Criminal Justice and Police Science. She continued her studies at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Crisis/Emergency/Disaster Management and Human Development in 2013. She attended Blackhawk Technical College in Janesville, WI completing the academy in 2015.
She began her career with the City of Stoughton Police Department in 2015 to 2016. In 2019 Emily accepted a police officer position with the City of Chetek Police Department where she was employed at the time of her death.
