The incident began when Trooper Allen stopped a 2012 Chevy Malibu for a traffic violation on the interstate near Fairfield.
Trooper Allen approached the vehicle and spoke to the driver. As he returned to his patrol car, the suspect fired multiple shots from a rifle at the officer.
Trooper Allen was dead at the scene.
Black fled the scene in a champagne-colored Chevy, but was apprehended about 100 miles away after a shootout with law enforcement around 7 p.m. roughly 100 miles away, near Prairie View.
