Bio: Patrick grew up in Newport and was a proud NHS Greyhound and 1994 graduate of Newport High School. Following graduation, he received his Associates Degree from Arkansas State University Newport and his Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Arkansas State University Jonesboro. Working always to become a better officer of the law, Patrick recently received his Master�s in Criminal Justice from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock. He was one of two hundred thirty Law Enforcement officers who graduated on March 18, 2016, from the FBI National Academy Program at Quantico, Virginia, which is one of the most elite programs in the nation. He was one of only two Arkansas officers chosen to attend this program.

Patrick began working for the Newport Police Department in 2002 and in 2004 he was promoted to the Criminal Investigation Division. He also worked Security on occasion for his alma mater, ASUN. Patrick had an undeniable passion for police work. His character was evidenced by his work ethic, genuine concern for others, and his penchant for honesty. Patrick was of the Christian belief.

He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, camping, and growing a vegetable garden. Patrick also enjoyed playing computer games. His greatest love was his family. Patrick was a loving and involved husband, Dad, son, brother, and son in law.

Summary:	Lieutenant Patrick Weatherford was shot and killed while investigating a vehicle larceny near the intersection of Park Place and Bowen Street at approximately 6:00 pm. He was assisting other officers check the area when they observed a suspicious person flee on foot. As the officers followed the man into a residential area he suddenly turned and opened fire, striking Lieutenant Weatherford. Lieutenant Weatherford was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. The subject turned himself in approximately 90 minutes later. Lieutenant Weatherford had served with the Newport Police Department for 15 years and was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division. He was a graduate of the 263rd session of the FBI National Academy.
