Bio: Tony Beminio graduated from West High School in Iowa City in 1996. He was known as a talented athlete in high school and college, playinbg football and on the wrestling team. He graduated from Simpson College in 2001 with a degree in criminal justice.

Beminio began his law enforcement career with the Indianola Police Department, where he worked from July 2001 to April 2005 before starting work for the Des Moines PD.

Offender: Scott Michael Greene :: Caucasian / Male - 46 years old
arrested in Dallas County, Iowa, about 9:30 a.m. local time, about seven hours after the shootings

Location: intersection of Merle Hay Road and Sheridan Drive   Des Moines,   Polk County, IA   USA   Wed. Nov. 02, 2016
Summary: Sergeant Anthony Beminio was sitting in his patrol car, approx. 1:26 am, at the intersection of Merle Hay Road and Sheridan Drive when a subject(Scott Greene) approached and opened fire without warning, shooting into the patrol car between 15 and 30 times. The type of firearm used is not readily known. The subject fled the scene.

Approximately 20 minutes earlier the same subject approached Officer Justin Martin, of the Urbandale Police Department approximately two miles away, and ambushed and murdered him in the same fashion.

The subject again fled the scene. At approximately 9:30 am, he surrendered to law enforcement officers in Dallas County. He was first taken to a local hospital after he complained of an existing medical condition and then taken to jail.
