Summary: Constable Gordon was stationed at Madoc at the time of his death. Constable Gordon was out on patrol with Constable Larry Yuen when they responded to investigate a minor hit and run accident. As they proceeded southbound they encountered a northbound vehicle which veered into the path of the police cruiser. Constable Yuen was badly injured and taken to Belleville General Hospital. Constable Gordon was trapped in the burning cruiser and killed. The male driver and female occupants of the other vehicle were also killed. It was determined the driver of the car was drunk.

Constable Gordon was to have been married 2 weeks after the accident. Andrew is survived by his father, Superintendent Gordon, OPP retired, his mother, his sister and his fiancée, a radio operator at the OPP communications Centre. Constable Gordon transferred to Madoc after his fathers retirement from the OPP. Constable Gordon had been born in Madoc where his father was stationed at the time of his birth. Constable Gordon was with the OPP for 5 years.
