Corporal Francis Jones was a passenger in an RCMP Helicopter that struck an unmarked suspension cable strung across a valley around Cat Ears Creek, on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. He was stationed at the Ucluelet Detachment. Special Constable Wayne Myers was the pilot and was also killed in the accident.
