Captain Alfred Campagne was shot and killed while chasing a suspect at Ft. Meade, Maryland. Captain Campagne responded to the scene of a suspicious person attempting to break into automobiles. Upon arrival, the suspect began to flee when he turned and shot Captain Campagne. At the time the suspect was wanted for murder.
Captain Campagne had been with the agency for four years and had previously served in the Vietnam War with the United States Army where he was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor and the Purple Heart for being wounded in action during the Tet Offensive of 1968 near the United States Embassy in Saigon. He is survived by his wife and child.
