Patrolman Julian A. Bonfield, of the 3rd District, was shot to death at 9:10 a.m. in front of 702 E. 41st Street by one of two bandits who had just held up the entire office force of the University Extension Conservatory at that address. The bandits escaped.
On December 16, 1926, a native of Columbia, South America was arrested and positively identified. He confessed and implicted another. He was convicted of Patrolman Bonfield's murder and hanged June 24, 1927.p
