Summary:
Deputy Marshall was shot and killed while accompanying the sheriff of Pettis County, Missouri, to serve a warrant that had been issued for stealing hogs on a man in Pettis County. Deputy Marshall was killed and the sheriff was seriously wounded by the suspect as they entered his home.
The suspect surrendered himself to the sheriff ten days later. He was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison December 17, 1926.
